CanTeen – the Australian Organisation for Young People Living with Cancer
CanTeen is a national peer support organisation for young people (aged
12-24 years) living with cancer, this includes Patients, Siblings and Offspring.CanTeen provides an opportunity for you to spend time with other people your own age who are in the same situation you are with a parent or primary care giver living with cancer.
The touchstone of CanTeen is that through meeting and talking with other young people who have "been there, done that", you are better able to cope with the uncertainties of a cancer diagnosis in your family. CanTeen provides a range of activities for you to do this through camps, weekends, workshops and outings.
CanTeen's Mission is "Supporting, Developing and Empowering young people living with cancer"."CanTeen provides support and an easy fun filled environment where you can escape the everyday hassles of life" - Matt, CanTeen Offspring Member.
"Through supporting, developing and empowering young people living with cancer, CanTeen provides a sanctuary where you can be yourself and not hide how you are feeling" - Julia, CanTeen Offspring Member.
